Is it then possible to know the true meaning of our life? 

More and more people come to see how institutional religions, despite their important social role, have mostly failed over the millennia to guide humanity's longing for a higher connection to the divine, to the essential, often descending into pure materialism and mixing in the struggle for power.

Christianity itself, or the perception of what Christianity is about, has been constantly marred by constant struggles and internal conflict.
