Our Purpose and Spiritual Foundations

The Universal Wisdom speaks of 7 Brotherhoods of the Light working across civilizations to aid the transformation of human consciousness and the liberation of humanity.
The International School of the Golden Rosycross (Lectorium Rosicrucianum) serves as an instrument for those yearning for a fundamental transformation of consciousness today.
We view the world as a "school" where existence acquires meaning in:
- Humanity’s Spiritual Purpose: Discovering the reason for our existence
- The Original Human Being: Restoring a state of being in the eternal present, the Divine Being,
- Transfiguration: The alchemical process of fixing "the Rose" (the Spirit-spark nucleus in the heart) to "the Cross" (the human personality).

Founded in the Netherlands in 1924 by brothers Wim and Jan Leene, later joined by Hani Stock-Huiser.
After the passing of Wim Leene in 1938, Jan van Rijckenborgh and Catharose de Petri (their spiritual "soul names") established the modern impulse for spiritual development that the Golden Rosycross is today.
What does Lectorium Rosicrucianum mean?
- Lectorium: A Latin term for a place of study or reading.
- Rosicrucianum: Referring to the spiritual movement symbolized by the Rose on the Cross.

The Golden Rosycross today provides seekers around the entire world access to the teachings of the Founders and information about the Gnostic Path of Initiation, and shares the lived Spiritual experience of pupils walking this path.

The School welcomes people from all walks of life who seek the Spirit, the Light and the Truth, and their fundamental self-transformation.

It comprises three schools in one: the Outer School, the Inner School, and the Inner Grades. The Outer School consists of two stages:
- Membership: The initial stage for those interested in the teachings;
- Pupilship: A deeper commitment transformation in every aspect of their lives.

Entry into Membership is free and open, giving the opportunity for the seeker to experience the Spiritual powerfield, the "Living Body", of the entire community.

In Pupilship, specific spiritual principles and minimum conditions of life practice help ensure no conduct or attitude hinders the process of Transfiguration.

Region 3 (English-speaking) provides resources for seekers across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific (including China and India), as well as support for French and Spanish-speaking territories in North America.
