Golden Rosycross
Glossary

The Golden Rosycross is a modern Gnostic Spiritual School, and the most recent link in the long chain of Spiritual Schools throughout the ages. The Gnostic teachings and Universal Language found in our literature are those used by the founders of the Golden Rosycross, who often adopted terms and descriptors used by previous Gnostic Schools.
This Glossary aims to assist in clarifying the meaning of many of the terms we use today.

Gnostic Christianity

that sector of Christianity that accesses the 'inner knowledge' about the nature of the universe, the nature of the Universal Christ, and what Its appearance on earth means to believers. While this knowledge is said to be secret, in fact, it is immediately accessible to anyone who turns to the Spirit-spark within their heart sanctuary and allows themself to be guided by the Inner Christ.

Gnostic Cross

from a historical material perspective, the form of the Christian cross used by gnostic Christians since the time of Christ - e.g. the Cathar Cross. From a Spiritual and contemporary perspective, the gnostic cross is formed by the horizontal beam of the cross, symbolising the outer man and the outer world, intersecting with, or permeated by the vertical beam, the force of the 'kingdom of the soul' descending into the world and into the hearts of all those who follow the gnostic path. Therefore, it is a living cross, erected in the microcosm of the candidate from the moment that the true inner man, Jesus, is reborn.

Gnostic Initiation

'Initiation' is the Gnostic process or path of Spiritual Transformation, a path that leads to the attainment of the Christ-consciousness, or Universal Consciousness, in the human being who has purified and prepared themselves for it, and in which all the prerequisite changes have taken place. The key to the Gnostic path is insight, leading to self-knowledge, and is the beginning of the Fivefold Universal Gnosis. See also Self-Initiation.

Gnostic Kingdom

the gnostic astral field, formed out of the pure astral substance of the beginning, built-up by the young gnostic Brotherhood in co-operation with the Universal gnostic Chain, of which it forms the youngest link. Through its activity in two worlds – that is, in the resurrection field of the sixth cosmic domain as well as in our field of existence, the seventh cosmic domain - it enables the liberation-seeking man to enter the resurrection field via the Living Body of the Gnosis. The Living Body forms the temporary bridge between both cosmic domains. The new gnostic kingdom vivifies all the powers that the pupil needs to cross this bridge-unto-life.

gnostic rituals

manifestations of the true knowledge of gnostic magic, that is, the invocation of forces from the liberating field of the Universal Brotherhood. Gnostic rituals therefore link participants who are prepared for it with the Chain of the Universal Brotherhood, and help them to become open and receptive to the Light emanating from the Universal Brotherhood. Unlike religious rituals, the primary role of the Gnostic Ritual is not the form, or the repetition of any form, but the substance, and most importantly, the connection the ritual vivifies between the participants and the Universal Brotherhood.

gnostic spirituality

spirituality can be defined generally as an individual's search for ultimate or sacred meaning and purpose in life. Gnostic Spirituality is to seek to make sense of one's own 'inner dimension' on the basis of self-knowledge, that is, the knowledge that the answer and the spiritual source can only be found within the heart of the human being.

gnostic symbol

throughout recorded history, many gnostic Spiritual Schools have become manifest according to the Spiritual conditions and consciousness of the era. In time, each Gnostic manifestation passes out of the material realm, often leaving behind traces, including in the form of symbols and texts that have manifested materially. These symbols, like the Gnostic Cross, the Gnostic Serpent Wheel, and many others known today, still carry their gnostic Spiritual meaning and efficiency for those who approach them on the basis of true Gnostic spirituality. Likewise, today the Golden Rosycross has its own symbols, which it willingly explains to all those who long to know and understand their deeper meaning.

gnostic wisdom

in Gnostic tradition, the name Sophia, Σοφία, Greek for 'wisdom', refers to the final emanation of God, and is identified with the anima mundi or world-soul. Today, the gnostic wisdom of Spiritual Schools, like the Golden Rosycross, encompasses all aspects of the teachings and practices of the Living Body or Power-field, and the Universal Brotherhood.

Gnosticism

is the belief that human beings have an element of God (often called “the highest good” or “divine spark”) within themselves, which must be allowed to become manifest, and that in so doing, the divine purpose of being human is fulfilled.

Golden Head

an aspect of the inner degrees of the Living Body of the sevenfold Mystery School; a reference to the field of resurrection, the new life-field.

Golden Wedding Garment

the light garment through which the reborn soul is prepared for the reunification with the spirit. Then the alchemical wedding can commence: the bride is prepared to enter the wedding hall.
