Golden Rosycross
Glossary

The Golden Rosycross is a modern Gnostic Spiritual School, and the most recent link in the long chain of Spiritual Schools throughout the ages. The Gnostic teachings and Universal Language found in our literature are those used by the founders of the Golden Rosycross, who often adopted terms and descriptors used by previous Gnostic Schools.
This Glossary aims to assist in clarifying the meaning of many of the terms we use today.

universal science

the universal science, the fundamental religion and the royal art are the activities of the Brotherhood of the Rosycross, the Brotherhood of the Cathars and the Brotherhood of the Holy Grail respectively. Together they form the threefold Unity of the Light, at present taking shape in the young gnostic Brotherhood, under the name of the Lectorium Rosicrucianum.

Vacuum of Shamballah

a realm, outside of the material sphere and outside of the hereafter, prepared by the Brotherhood of the Golden Rosycross in order to afford pupils an opportunity to continue the work begun and to bring it to a glorious consummation under the most harmonious circumstances, free from the difficulties, limitations, dangers, and vexations inherent in dialectics.

wheel of birth and death

the ever-repeating process of the birth, life, and death of a personality, followed by the re-animation of the microcosm with a new personality, in accordance with the law of dialectics.

the continually repeated process of birth, life, death and reincarnation.

yearning for salvation

when, through insight and self-knowledge, the initiate truly understands the reality of his or her life, and understands that the call of the Spirit-spark within is the inner voice that will guide them to self-liberation, to salvation through purification and transformation, then an immense yearning to walk that path becomes the driving force in the life of the seeking Soul. See also Fivefold Universal Gnosis.

Abraxas

a gnostic indication for God's universal being of Love; appearing as such, for example, in the teachings of Apollonius of Tyana.
