Glossary
The Golden Rosycross is a modern Gnostic Spiritual School, and the most recent link in the long chain of Spiritual Schools throughout the ages. The Gnostic teachings and Universal Language found in our literature are those used by the founders of the Golden Rosycross, who often adopted terms and descriptors used by previous Gnostic Schools.
This Glossary aims to assist in clarifying the meaning of many of the terms we use today.

sympathetic nervous system
that part of the nervous system which in dialectical man is not controlled by the will, but functions automatically; more especially the two nerve-cords to the left and right of the cerebrospinal column. These two cords join each other at the top of the spinal column at the pineal gland.
The Great Play
the ambitious, cunning reflection sphere activity, which contemplates, through the help of occultism from beyond the veil and the application of enormous apparitions of a natural-scientific nature, to imitate the return of the Lord. It is an intensive manifestation of doom, which will accompany the end of the present cosmic day, and which will threaten to imprison all of humanity and drive it along in the blindness of delusion. Three Temples
the inner process experienced by C. R. C., the candidate on the Alchemical path, and the environment in which this happens, correspond. The candidate becomes conscious of the pure, astral sphere of the realm of life through the inner process of transfiguration, in which the alchemical wedding of the soul and the spirit takes place. In this way, he experiences the unity of his inner and outer state which determine one another. The processes in the head sanctuary, the microcosmic Upper Room, make him conscious of the cosmic Upper Room, which he can enter because of this inner development. Here he encounters the Brotherhood of Christ which stands by him in his ascent. When the pilgrim climbs the mountain of liberation on which the three temples stand, the view becomes wider and what was seen from afar becomes a reality. As the candidate realises these three aspects, the lofty spheres of a new humanity open up for him.
transfiguration
the evangelical rebirth out of water and spirit, as to spirit, soul, and body. It is the alchemical process in which what is mortal must put on immortality, in which everything unholy is nullified through transmutation into what is holy. It is the transmutation of base metals into gold.
Universal Brotherhood
the divine hierarchy of the Immovable Kingdom. It forms the universal body of the Lord. It is also indicated by many other names, such as the invisible Church of Christ, the Christ-Hierarchy, the universal gnostic Chain, the Gnosis. Through its activity in the aid of fallen man it appears, among other things, as the Brotherhood of Shamballa, the Mystery School of the Christ-Hierophants, and as the young Gnostic Brotherhood today.
