The Alchemical Wedding of Christian Rosycross is a veiled Rosicrucian story of a way of initiation that is described as taking place over seven symbolic days. The candidate, Christian Rosenkreutz, receives an invitation to a royal wedding, for which he knows himself to be not worthy yet. Nevertheless, he takes up the invitation and sets to work on the alchemical wedding of his renewed soul (the bride) with the divine spirit (the groom). Through this allegorical story Christian Rosenkreutz makes this royal wedding accessible to his fellow human beings. Volume 1 contains day 1, 2 and 3 of this classical Rosicrucian text together with enlightening explanations by Jan van Rijckenborgh.
Summary
In 1616, the manuscript entitled ‘The Alchemical Wedding of Christian Rosycross’ whose authorship was attributed to Johanne Valentine Andrea, was first published. The story is said to be a heavily veiled manifesto of the classical Rosicrucians, written to portray the complete spiritual path that is open for all of humanity.
In this allegorical story, Christian Rosycross, symbolising the pupil on the path, faces a journey of ‘seven days’, seven stages of soul growth, seven steps leading to sanctification, each step having a specific inner task, an inner accomplishment. Jan van Rijckenborgh unveils for the reader the hidden symbolism and meanings of this allegory and the journey it describes, opening for the seeker a knowledge and wisdom that has but one purpose: to assist the pupil walking the path portrayed by Christian Rosycross to turn this insight into a new soul reality.
In this first volume, Jan van Rijckenborgh explores the esoteric meanings behind the first three days of the ‘Alchemical Wedding’, being the candidate’s invitation and preparation, their worthiness and judgement, and the necessity of astral purification. Through the author’s explanations the reader comes to a deeper understanding of how this ‘veiled knowledge’ can illuminate and help them on the Gnostic inner path.
